Permanent Bruise is an experimental project employing the use of symbols, motifs and modern emojis as extensions of our language. They’re our contemporary hieroglyphs, serving as potent tokens for us to convey moods and remotely emote in the digital age.
Permanent Bruise makes cute and fun pieces that are sometimes functional, or sometimes just ornamental and touch on bigger subjects. The works hope to draw upon the greater cultural significance of ceramics while combining something so throw away, like an emoji, and re-contextualising it all by immortalising it in stone.
All pieces are usually one off and all are lovingly hand-made in Naarm on stolen Wurundjeri Country.
